Glassware Dinnerware And Collectibles

I have cobalt blue countertops and light hardwood floor in my kitchen. What color should I paint the walls?

cobalt blue glass dinnerwareWhen it comes to collecting blue cobalt glass, beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder. It is impossible to tell what a particular person is going to fall in love with. Just as challenging is producing any piece of art which is able to appeal to everyone. No matter how eminent the master, there are a few persons that will not be partial to or grasp his art. On the other hand, there are pieces which turn out to be collectible as well as priceless, at least to the collector, merely for the reason that you enjoy possessing them looking at them.

The hardwood floor is kind of light colored like oak maybe. Any suggestions? Thanks.
My cabinets are white with "gold" hardware.
How about a light sage green or a light yellow?

Hi….I agree w/ the first post….a french yellow would look great!! I’m not sure what your style is, but if you like french country, then a "toile" theme would look wonderful….The blue/cream would contrast nicely w/ the light yellow walls…you could hang up some toile kitchen curtains and you can even find some decorative plates and accessories to hang on the walls and place on the counter tops…sunflowers would also really pop against the blue countertops too…stripes/plaids in the same color family also coordinate well w/ this theme…and you could easily find some throw/area rugs and chair cushions to bring the entire room together….sometimes it helps to find a piece of artwork, fabric or rug that you like and plan your color scheme from there….good luck and have fun decorating your kitchen!!!!

A French Provincial yellow would look amazing. I think it’s called French Vanilla, by either Pratt and Lambert or Benjamin Moore, not sure. Talk to the sales staff, they should know. It’s not a bright yellow, more of an antique color. Very soft. I used it some years ago and loved it.

My Mother recently had me redesign her kitchen and I did antique white distressed cabinets on top dark distressed cabinets on the bottom, dark granite with a colbolt blue in it, the floor is a colbolt blue ceramic tile and I painted the walls with Venetian Plaster (color) Dante which is a deeper golden color(available at the Home Depot). I accented the color scheme with blue glass pieces, a faux tin (silver) backsplash, A light oak butcher block, colorful Roosters, burgandy/blue/gold pictures and signs. Everyone who enters asks what design company did her kitchen! The compliments she receives are unbelieveable. I don’t know what color your cabinets are but I think it would look great with white, oak or dark cabinets. This color is so sharp and accents blue, white, light wood and dark wood beautifully. You can always ask for this color to be made in an interior satin finish maybe they can do it. Good luck hope this helps!

The new color combination for cobalt blue and white is a lime green. This is a fresh airy color that compliments cobalt blue. You will probably notice this color combination more towards the spring.

I have a large collection of white and cobalt blue antique flow blue dishes. I have decorated with these plates for decades and have used the following colors in my decorating schemes over the years:

Yellow, from mustard yellow to saffron yellow, with red accents

Cranberry (this looks a little patriotic with blue and white) so, touches of yellow do tone it down

Green Tones, currently using lime, green myself

    Terra Cotta

    Coral, not pink, not orange.

Typically kitchens don’t have alot of wall space on account of the cabinetry and the appliances, so be bold with your color choice for a great impact and to be cohesive with such a great strong cobalt counter top. Good Luck
