Radioactive Trinkets
When it comes to collecting blue cobalt glassware, value sincerely is in the eyes of the viewer. It is impossible to know what a particular individual is going to fall in love with. Just as difficult is creating any piece of art that is able to appeal to everyone. No matter how eminent the master, there are certain individuals who will not love or recognize the value of his art. On the other hand, there are items that turn out to be collectible as well as important, at least to you, merely for the reason that you take pleasure in proudly owning them looking at them.
Here is a uranium doped marble I've had for over a decade. Also, there are several radioactive beads, the large one is depression glass (although it's not really from the depression, but it's made the same way) from the 1860's and I'm putting it on a bracelet. The smaller ones are jadite beads with indents on the sides to resemble little dice. I got the beads as gifts to promote business in the future from a local antique store. As you can see they all fluoresce nicely, and the most radioactive thing here is the large bead going on my bracelet.

YAY cant wait!! thanks for all this!!!
No problem
That’s a neat bead and marble! Is that real Jadeite though, or a uranium-doped imitation? Wikipedia (which may or may not be reliable) lists all the different types of jadeite and they’re all “inert to weak” with flourescence under longwave light, while I’d consider yours to glow pretty strongly… that plus the radioactivity of them would suggest they’re actually fakes. Still interesting nonetheless though!
It isn’t the mineral jadeite, it’s depression glass named jadeite for it’s similar appearance.
Ohh okay, I didn’t knew that officially existed lol. Thanks for clearing that up!
nice video
could u send me some uranium glass stuff please =(. I live in Estonia and no antique shop sells this stuff around here.(believe me ive checked every single one I have found)
how can u know if it is radioactive?with uv light?or u have radiation detector?
I have an actual radiation detector, but it wasn’t working at the time this video was made.
why is everyone so keen to wanting e radiated material?…don’t you know Radiation is bad for you.
lol Don’t you know it’s not as bad as it has be sensationalized to be… And I can’t speak for others, but as a person who is going into particle physics and/or nuclear engineering, it’s kind of important…
