This might sound crazy, but it’s an old trick handed down for generations in my family. We’ve made a lot of money in the antique business, so this is assured to work, if not altogether pleasant. Basically just taste the stuff. Lick it. Depression glass has a distinct bitter quality to its surface from the polarized alkili. Go ahead and lick normal glass, it’ll taste like dust or whatever you cleaned it with, ie, like nothing. But depression glass, again, will have this acerbic bitter kick that you just can’t miss. Happy licking!
